"Hope is the most evil of all emotions"

This is a quote from the following book:

Here's the Blurb on that:

"Evil lives in the dark. We instinctively know this as children." Nestled high in the mountains...
The quiet community of Jackson Station is where everyone knows your name and...species?
Vampires have existed since almost the beginning of time, but not in the way we have been led to believe. These were not men cursed by the devil but warriors blessed by God to have great strength, agility, and eternal life.
Eternal life came at a price, the price of human blood. Some chose to live within their own society; The Society of Sinners.

This is the first in Charity Parkerson's award winning "Sinners" series introducing a paranormal world filled with vampires, werewolves, changeling, and God's greatest warrior.

The "Sinners" series:
  • The Society of Sinners
  • Wicked Sinners
  • The Danger with Sinners
  • Sinners of Water & Fire

How about the excerpt containing that quote?

Hope is the most evil of all emotions. That was the most the important lesson Dimitri learned in his three thousand years of living. Hope made you want things, and dream for a moment that they could really be yours, only to have reality crash back down on you without a moment’s notice. Sometimes you didn’t even realize that you had begun to hope until it was too late, and then it was like a knife to your heart.

Not hot enough for this blog? Hmmm, how about this one?

“Watch closely,” he said in a voice so sexy she was forced to hide the shiver that skirted across her skin. She couldn’t have looked away if her life depended on it. She watched in fascination as he began to move to the slow beat, his hands skimming the buttons running down the front of his shirt. Slowly, one by one, he released each, leaving a trail of golden skin in their wake. This was what she wanted to see, but she was too scared to go to his show. The movement of his hips brought him closer to her, and her eyes fastened onto the wonderful trail of hair leading downward. She tried hard to look unfazed as his shirt fell from his shoulders with a slight shrug, baring a glorious expanse of chest for her eyes to feast upon.
Ohmigod, Ohmigod, Ohmigod! He was so hot, and, damn it, he knew it.
His sexy mouth quirked at one corner as if her thoughts were projected across the space between them, of course they probably were, bastard.
He undid the button on his jeans. The sound of his zipper was unnaturally loud, even with the music playing in the background, and it strummed through her bloodstream. If he thought she’d go all chicken shit and stop him now, he was sadly mistaken. She’d been picturing him just like this in her mind since the first time they met, and she’d be damned if she got screwed out of seeing it now.
He worked his jeans down his hips, and her mouth went dry. He was a god amongst men; every muscle was well defined and they flexed with each motion he made, but his eyes were what kept her glued to her seat. They changed in color, becoming iridescent. He was almost on top of her without her ever seeing him move. She could see the outline of his erection against his boxer briefs, and Stacy licked her lips, trying to force sound past her swollen throat. Some sense of self-preservation caused her to say, “Well, that was nice.” The sight of his shocked face gave her the strength she needed to move.
“I’ll be right back.” She shot from the room, closing the bathroom door behind her with a definite snap.
Cold water, cold water was what she needed.
