He
took two strides and closed the space between them. Before he could think
better of his actions, he sealed his mouth over hers in a kiss so blatantly
carnal he might not ever be the same again. He could claim no right. She would
hate herself, if she ever realized who she was allowing to touch her, but she
called to him on some deeper level that he could not resist. He told himself he
would stay away, but he just could not. Never in all the years of his life had
he met someone like her; someone who could bring him to his knees and lead him
into temptation.

“There
is nothing poetic about the things I want from you. You’re no longer safe, mon amour,” he told her, sounding
breathless.
“Good.”
Lifting up onto her toes, she buried both hands in his hair, and tugged his
mouth down to hers once more. She did not feel safe, and it was wonderful.
Exhilaration poured through her veins at his touch. The staid version of
Jacques that she met that first night left her feeling cold, but this side of
him left her breathless and made him irresistible to her. She wanted to run her
hands over his body and discover what he kept hidden beneath his clothes. She
wanted to run her tongue over every inch of his body and hear him moan her
name.
His
hands were resting lightly on her hips, then they moved lower; she felt her
already too short dress begin to slide higher. Only when she felt the ocean
breeze against her bare skin did she realize how high up the dress was coming.
His fingers brushed along the same lines as the breeze, causing her to protest.
“Someone might see,” she hissed.
His
eyes took on a wicked glint. “Do you need a secure location? Maybe someplace
reliable, like your bed, where you’ll be safe?”
His
words hit their mark and a streak of rebellion rose up inside of her, making
her reckless. “All I need is you,” she told him as she brushed her hand down
the front of his pants, shaping his erection with her fingers through the
cloth.
His
smile became triumphant, and she knew that she had been maneuvered, but when he
touched her most sensitive spot, she no longer cared.
